Brought to you by CMC KUHNKE, our metal packaging testing specialist brand, our axial load tester is a combination unit that ensures safe and accurate control over your can inspection.
You can rely on the PAX-3000 Axial Load and Panel Strength device to measure the axial load capacity of a variety of cans of different heights and diameters. You can test food and beverage cans up to a maximum load of 10000N and there’s no need for any fiddly inserts or adapters!
Automatic axial load testing
Our axial load tester has automatic functionality which means that any potential for operator error is eliminated.
Simple, safe axial load testing
The PAX-3000 Axial Load and Panel Strength tester was designed with your safety in mind. It’s built with multiple safety features: the panel test can’t start until the door latch is securely closed; and the door can’t be opened while the test is ongoing.
A robust, hard-wearing axial load tester
Our axial load tester is built to last! This powerful can testing device features a rugged design that will withstand even the most rigorous of inspection environments.
Axial load tester transparency
The pressure chamber windows on our axial load tester enable you to observe the implosion process in real time.
Related axial load tester products
Across the IP portfolio we make a wide range of axial load and panel strength testing products. Our customers have been equally impressed with the Axial Load Tester AXL-3050, the Axial Load Tester AXL-3100 and our axial load tester made specifically for monobloc cans.
Axial load tester talking
We have learnt a thing or two about can inspection and how to make the perfect axial load tester over the decades and we like to share our knowledge. For example, we’ve written this blog on how beverage cans are made and this one on how to choose whether a two or three piece can is right for your products.
What is axial load testing? And what’s panel load testing?
An axial load is the force acting along the axis or centrepiece of a can. This type of load can be caused by pressure or compression. It can also be induced by operating conditions or external influences – for example, temperature change can lead to parts of a can contracting or expanding.
How does our axial load tester work?
Our axial load tester is really easy to use! To perform a test, you place your can on a table and then it’s slowly raised against the upper pressure plate. Once the maximum force has been reached, the axial load value is recorded. It can then be sent to a computer database or simply read off the display in real time.
What’s panel implosion testing?
Under the right – or perhaps wrong – conditions, a can will implode! This is influenced by the volume inside the can and the temperature / kinetic energy of the environment it’s subject to. Panel implosion testing can show you how much pressure your can will withstand before it implodes.
How does our panel implosion tester work?
The panel test starts with the touch of a button. The pressurized chamber is held securely dosed while pressure is increased using our innovative Quick-FillTM technology.
The maximum pressure at which the container panel fails (implosion) is displayed on a handy touchscreen. You can then print the results or transfer them directly to our Visionary QC™9 software or a similar data acquisition program.
Versatile axial load and panel testing performance
It’s so easy to switch between both test types using our axial load tester and panel tester. The results of both test types can be stored, deleted, printed, or transferred into data acquisition software. Plus, the integrated microprocessor ensures the gauge can be used as a stand-alone PC independent machine, eliminating any potential downtime if computer related issues occur.
